In 2014, a casual conversation between friends sparked the birth of FETE-ish. Kayle Cassius, feeling unfulfilled after 14 years in the corporate world, had recently embraced footwear design as a creative outlet. When her friend unexpectedly announced she’d found her a customer, the debate that ensued led to an impromptu naming of the brand: FETE-ish.
This name, a clever portmanteau of the French/Creole word “fete” (party) and the English suffix “-ish,” perfectly encapsulates the brand’s essence. It’s a nod to Saint Lucia’s vibrant, mixed French-Creole culture and a playful reference to the English word it phonetically mirrors.
FETE-ish was born from Kayle’s desire to reconnect with her creative inner child and address the lack of quality, stylish footwear options in her Caribbean home. Inspired by local craftsmanship and the festive Caribbean lifestyle, Kayle set out to create sandals that reflected the vibrancy of her culture and her personal taste.
What began as a journey of self-discovery has blossomed into a unique footwear brand. Today, FETE-ish operates from a small workshop in Saint Lucia, handcrafting beautiful, high-quality sandals in small batches or as custom requests.
